Ashley Josiah Hemmings (born March 3, 1991 in Wolverhampton ) is an English football player . The striker and winger was trained in the youth department of Wolverhampton Wanderers , was the best academy player of the 2007/08 season ("Academy Player of the Year") and was a professional player with the Wolves from 2009 to 2012. He has been playing for FC Walsall since the 2012/13 season .

Athletic career

At the age of nine, Ashley Hemmings joined the youth department of Wolverhampton Wanderers and those in charge quickly predicted a promising future for him due to his speed, bipod ability and headball strength. He went through the youth teams, excelled at tournaments in which the "young wolves" took part, and in 2008 received the club's internal award for best academy player - a year later he was narrowly defeated by Scott Malone in the same election .

Shortly before his 18th birthday, he signed his first professional contract in February 2009 and shortly thereafter switched to third division club Cheltenham Town on loan . On February 24, 2009 he came as a substitute for Nicholas Bignall , who was also on loan from Reading FC to Cheltenham, to his first league appearance in English professional football against Millwall FC (1: 3). Further missions in Football League One were not granted to him; but he got the opportunity to two short appearances at his home club in Wolverhampton in the last two games of the season. There the English U-16 and U-17 selection player helped the "Wolves" in the penultimate game with the 1-1 draw against FC Barnsley in winning the second division championship and last saved the 1-0 win against the Doncaster Rovers for the time being last second division game over time. Between October 2010 and January 2011 he played nine league games for fourth division Torquay United . After another loan deal with Plymouth Argyle , Hemmings was transferred to Walsall FC for the 2012/13 season .
