The Ashtray Basin ( ashtray basin ) is a small valley in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is there at the head of the Arena Valley in the Quartermain Mountains of the Transantarctic Mountains .
Descriptively after its shape, the valley was named by a team from the University of New South Wales in Sydney , Australia , who conducted field research in this area between 1966 and 1967.
