Aceros is a genus of hornbills (Bucerotidae), whose representatives are native to Southeast Asia. A German name is not established, they are occasionally referred to as the Asian throat pouch hornbills or year bird relatives . They are large birds, the upper beak of which does not have a fully formed horn helmet, but only a raised bulge at the base. A number of transverse furrows are also formed. The bare skin on the throat and face is conspicuously colored. The plumage is different in the two sexes, the tail is always white. All species of the genus Aceros are, like the other representatives of the hornbills, cave breeders.

species

As a rule, four species are assigned to the genus today.

The following species are now usually assigned to the genus Rhyticeros :

A previously undescribed species of Aceros has become known through fossil bones from Lifou Atoll in the Loyalty Islands .
