The Asklepios Klinikum Harburg is the general hospital in the Hamburg district of Heimfeld in the Harburg district and is part of the meanwhile partially privatized State Hospital Hamburg . In total, more than 1,500 employees take care of the patient's health. This makes the clinic the third largest hospital in Hamburg.
history
The Harburg General Hospital was opened in 1949, replacing the hospital opened in 1861. The predecessor of today's hospital had 60 beds. The hospital was almost completely destroyed in World War II, which is why it was necessary to open the new hospital on the premises of the former Dominik barracks.
The new building has been open since 2014. In addition to a modern central emergency room, there is also the cardiac catheter laboratory with hybrid operating room and the intensive care areas.
In May 2017 , after a life-saving experience in the Asklepios Clinic Harburg, the Tostedt artist Erwin Hilbert designed the “Room of Silence” and cardiology with his pictures. The prayer room was opened in January 2017 on the first floor in building 8 of the hospital.
The clinic is an academic teaching hospital of the University of Hamburg .
Between 2015 and 2018, the clinic was one of the settings for the documentary soap Die Babystation - Every day a little miracle .

The clinic can be reached by car via the A1 exit Hamburg-Harburg or the A7 exit Hamburg-Heimfeld.
You can take the S3 / S31 S-Bahn towards Harburg-Heimfeld via Hamburg Central Station. From there, the clinic can be reached by bus routes 142, 146, 543 and night bus 642 at the AK Harburg stop. Buildings 12 and 16 (child psychiatry and psychiatry) are best reached with line 142, Lühmannstr.
