Efeufarn ( Asplenium hemionitis ) is a plant from the genus of Asplenium ( Asplenium ) within the family of Spleenwort (Aspleniaceae).

description

The plant reaches a height of 10 to 50 cm. Older fronds are heart-shaped or spear-shaped to palmate with a 3–5-lobed blade. The middle lobe is longer than the lateral. The strip-shaped sori are arranged obliquely to the midrib along the leaf veins . The spores ripen from October to June.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 72.

Occurrence

The distribution area includes Portugal, Spain, Morocco to Algeria as well as the Canary Islands , Madeira , Azores and the Cape Verde Islands . Shady crevices and laurel forests are preferred as locations .
