Aster Demissie
Aster Demissie (* 1983 in Sululta as Aster Bacha ) is a Canadian long-distance runner of Ethiopian origin.
At the 2000 World Half Marathon Championships in Veracruz, she came in 17th place. In 2001 she won bronze in the individual and gold in the team classification at the junior women’s race at the World Cross Country Championships in Ostend . At the World Athletics Championships in Edmonton , she came over 10,000 m in 14th place.
In 2004 she won the 10 km at the Ottawa Race Weekend . In 2005 she won the Corrida Bulloise , in 2006 the Zurich New Year's Run . At the Canadian half marathon championships , she came three times from 2004 to 2006 as the first out of competition to the finish.
She became a Canadian citizen on May 13, 2008.
