Astrid Hjertenæs Andersen

Astrid Gerd Judith Hjertenæs Andersen (born September 5, 1915 in Horten , † April 21, 1985 in Ramnes ) was a Norwegian writer who appeared mainly as a poet . Andersen is considered one of the most important Norwegian poets of the post-war period.

Life

Andersen was the daughter of Peder JA Hjertenæs, an officer in the Norwegian Navy , and Astrid Elinor Andersen. She trained as a secretary and journalist and worked, among other things, for the newspaper Aftenposten . In 1939 she married the painter Snorre Andersen .

In 1940 and 1941 her first poems appeared in the newspapers Aftenposten and Dagbladet . From 1942 she worked full-time as a writer. Her first collection of poems, De ville traner , was published in 1945 by a small publisher called Høvik Bokhandel. Further books followed by Aschehoug and Gyldendal . Some of her books were illustrated by her husband. For Frokost i det grønne she was awarded the Critics Prizes literary prize in 1964. Andersen also published two reports of trips she took with her husband to Algeria and Iceland , as well as a novel.

From 1974 to 1979 Andersen was a member of the Literary Council of the Norwegian Writers' Association .
