Astro Show

The Astro Show was an astrologically motivated Saturday evening show on ARD in the early 1980s. From February 7, 1981 to January 8, 1983, a total of twelve episodes were broadcast at two-month intervals. The show was moderated initially by Horst Buchholz and from the sixth episode onwards by Hans Peter Heinzl . The expert and co-host was the astrologer Elizabeth Teissier , whose role in the first episodes was played by the actress Rose Renée Roth .

The concept of the television show was based on the fact that typical characteristics of the current zodiac sign were shown in a playful test with four candidates. At least one prominent talk guest was invited in each episode (including Emil Steinberger , Robert Lembke , Thomas Gottschalk , Rainhard Fendrich had his first TV appearance with "Strada del sole"). Independent statements by the astrologer were always accompanied by spherical background music. The striking title music came from Klaus Doldinger .

The first edition dealt with the zodiac sign Aquarius . Due to the bimonthly broadcasting cycle, the zodiac signs that were ignored in the first year then came up in the second year. Due to the offset, there was a one-time break of three months between Sagittarius and Fischen . With Capricorn , the show ended after all twelve zodiac signs.

Although there was a regular Saturday evening program for two years, the Astro Show was considered a big flop. The audience numbers were low in the end. The unwavering adherence to the concept of the Astro Show despite the lowest rate was the trigger for massive ridicule. Occasionally the unsuccessful issue was discussed in other shows. In Rudi's day show z. B. was shown in a sketch how dog catchers with large nets caught fleeing passers-by yelling for help, who were then loaded into a truck labeled Astro Show (and then used as an audience in the studio).
