The Ataköy Dam ( Turkish Ataköy Barajı ) is located 30 km east of Tokat in the Turkish province of Tokat on the upper reaches of the Yeşilırmak .
The Ataköy dam was built between 1975 and 1977 just under 4 km below the Almus dam as a rocky dam . It is operated by the state water authority DSİ and is used to generate energy . The dam is 21.5 m high and has a volume of 600,000 m³. The associated 4 km long reservoir has a water surface of 0.5 km² and a storage volume of 2.8 million m³. The Ataköy dam hydropower plant has an installed capacity of 5.5 megawatts . The average annual energy production is 8 GWh.
Below the dam, part of the water is directed via a pressure pipe to the Köklüce hydropower plant 8 km north-northeast . This is located near the city of Niksar in the valley of the Kelkit Çayı . The hydropower plant, built in 1975–1988, has two units of 45 MW and generates an average of 350 GWh per year (2002–2013).
