Athanasius Miller
Athanasius Miller OSB (born September 22, 1881 in Wolfartsweiler as Max Miller , † April 17, 1963 in Leutkirch (Salem) ) was a German Benedictine .
Life
He attended the schools of the Emmauskloster and the Seckau Abbey . In September 1901 he entered the Archabbey of Beuron . After his profession on October 15, 1902, he studied in the Maria Laach Abbey . After he was ordained a priest on September 22, 1909, further Bible studies took him to Strasbourg, Jerusalem and the Middle East. In Beuron he taught the Old Testament at the home school from 1911 and was also prefect of the clergy.
From 1922 he taught at the Pontificio Ateneo Sant'Anselmo . On May 8, 1949, Pius XII appointed him. as secretary of the Pontificia Commisio de re biblica . Due to increasing blindness, he asked to be relieved of this task in 1962.
