The Athens Circuit (formerly Aftokinitodromio Megaron, Greek Αυτοκινητοδρομίο Μεγαρών ) is a permanent motorsport racetrack in the city of Megara in Greece . The sports complex is located around 35 km west of downtown Athens .

history

Construction of the racetrack began in 1994 and was completed in 1998. The 200 hectare Aftokinitodromio Megaron facility was the first permanent motorsport circuit in Greece. The course is 2,100 meters long, has six right and four left turns and an average width of 11 to 12 meters. The longest straight is 580 meters. The track is mainly used for motorcycle races; in 2001 the FIM Supermoto World Championship was held on the circuit. There are also kart races on a shortened version of the route .
