Athletes of the Saddle is an American short film directed by Jack Eaton in 1952, which was nominated for an Oscar .
content
The film tells of how riders train their horses for show jumping in Mexico City and how easily new horses can break because of the demands if you don't give them the time they need. There are also obstacle courses to be mastered , and eventing riders are taught and trained in general equestrian sports at the Escuela de Equitacion, which is under the direction of Humberto Mariles . In 1948, Mariles was Mexico's first show jumping Olympic champion to win both individually and with a team.

The film, produced by Paramount Pictures , is part of the Grantland Rice Sportlight series . Rod Warren co-produced the film. The film was first released in the United States on August 1, 1952.
Award
Jack Eaton was nominated for an Oscar at the Academy Awards in 1953 with his film in the category “Best Short Film” (1 film role) , which however went to Boris Vermont and the film Light in the Window , which deals with the life and work of the painter Jan Vermeer busy.
