Atlético Valladolid
Atlético Valladolid , also known as Panteras , is a Mexican football club from Morelia , the capital of the state of Michoacán .
Valladolid is the name that the city of Morelia bore from 1545 to 1828, before it was given its current name in honor of the popular hero José María Morelos .
history
The club was founded in 1959 to get a starting place in the second-rate Segunda División and to fill the gap left by the exit of CD Morelia after the 1956/57 season. After a considerable sixth place in the 1959/60 season, the team occupied only the penultimate place in their second season 1960/61 and was then withdrawn from the league, which was synonymous with the dissolution of the still young club.
In the late 1970s, the revival of the club followed, which now started in the third-rate Tercera División . After the city rivals Atlético Morelia rose to the first division at the end of the 1980/81 season , the ambitious club wanted to represent the city in the second division and acquired the license from Atletas Industriales to implement this project. In his first season 1981/82 he only narrowly escaped the sporting descent and after the season 1982/83 one saw himself forced to sell his license due to the economic difficulties, which again had a dissolution of the club.
In August 2016, the club was revived for the second time and a team consisting almost exclusively of young players from the state of Michoacán joined the now only fourth-class Tercera Division. The home games are played at the Estadio Venustiano Carranza .
