Training ships

The Atlantic super trawlers , also the Prometey and Project 464 series , were a series of large trawlers . They were mainly built by the Stralsund shipyard.

history

The fishing and processing vessels were used in the fishing fleets of the USSR , Romania and the GDR . Between 1970 and 1983, 195 Atlantic super trawlers and six units specially set up as training ships with two-year development stages were built at the Volkswerft; from 1983 to 1989 a few more units were built at the Romanian shipyard Șantierul Naval Brăila.

The eight ships of the Rostock Fish Combination were put into service between 1976 and 1982 as ROS 331 to ROS 338. The decommissioning took place between 1990 and 1994.

technology

The Atlantic super trawlers were designed for use in flotilla fishing and used in association with refrigerated transport and supply ships. The ships, which are set up to meet high demands on long-term reliability and functional safety of all ship and processing systems, can be used in the fishing area for the entire fishing season or all year round. The duration of the action between two treatments was 70 days. Air-conditioned single-, double- and four-bed chambers were available for the approximately 90-man crew.

Fished with trawl or pelagic trawl to 1500 meters depth, could be exposed to the hauling of fishing net on the Heckslip to 43 meters long fishing deck a second network immediately. A winch system, which was controlled by the combined trawl and command bridge , allowed a largely mechanized handling of the fishing gear. The ships were designed for a potential annual catch of around 10,000 tons and a daily catch of 50 to 80 tons of fish. Up to 65 tons could be processed daily as whole fish or fish fillet , the waste and bycatch into fish meal. Fish liver was packaged in tins or made into fish oil. Depending on the version, between 1680 and 1858 cubic meters of cold storage at −28 ° C were available for the shock-frozen cargo. The fishmeal bunker held 386 cubic meters, the canned food hold 28 and the fish oil tank 19 cubic meters. With special equipment, the cargo could be handed over to transport ships at sea.

A two-stroke diesel engine with 2855 kilowatts at 221 revolutions per minute directly propelled a variable-pitch propeller with a Kort nozzle . The cruising speed was about 15 knots, a thrust of 280 kilonewtons was achieved at a towing speed of 6 knots. In addition to a shaft generator with 1200 kilowatts, there were three to four diesel generators with 530 to 600 kilowatts and an emergency generator with 140 kilowatts for generating electricity.
