As Atlantic coastal plain ( English Atlantic coastal plain ) refers to a stretch of coastline on the Atlantic coast of the United States .

The Atlantic coastal plain stretches from the Hudson Estuary in New York City to the Gulf Coast Plain with the Mississippi Delta . In the north, the coastal plain is narrow and rich in bays. To the south it spreads partly swampy to the plain of the Gulf of Mexico and to Florida . In the west, the Atlantic coastal plain is bounded by the Appalachian mountain range and the Piedmont .
