Atomizer was an Australian black and thrash metal band from Melbourne that was formed in 1998 and disbanded in 2008.

history

The band was formed in July 1998 by Jason Healey. After he had developed enough songs, the recording of the first demo began before the original line-up of the band broke up. The demo was only released in very small numbers because the result did not satisfy the band. Then drummer Aaren “Suds” Suttil joined the cast. Together with Healey and the guitarist Justin Allen, the first appearances followed in August 1999. After the band had signed an album contract with End All Life Productions , the band hit the studio in November to record their debut album The End of Forever . The LP was released in April of the following year and was limited to 666 pieces before the CD followed in July. In the same year, the band also held a New Zealand tour that included 12 appearances. In addition, the band could be heard on the Metal for the Brain . In 2001 the EP Gimme Natural Selection was released via Nihilist Void Records . In addition to their own songs, Motörheads Ace of Spades and I Wish You Were a Beer by Cycle Sluts from Hell also included two cover songs . In addition, the band recorded the next album Death - Mutation - Disease - Annihilation . In November guitarist Allen left the band and was replaced by Jason Saunders that same month. The album was released as an LP by End All Life Productions in April 2002 and was limited to 500 copies and was released as a CD by Drakkar Productions in September . In April the band went on tour through New Zealand again. In addition, the band recorded a song for a split release together with the band Root , as well as one for the sampler Barbarian Onslaught . She also recorded the EP Tire: The Doom War of the Armored Angel . On the sound carrier the band covered Australian groups such as Tyrus, Armored Angel and WAR. In addition, work began on the next album The Only Weapon of Choice - 13 Odes to Power, Decimation and Conquest . In the same year guitarist Jay Young came to the cast, so that the group was four for the first time. This was followed by a concert with Destruction in Melbourne. In early 2003 the band went on tour with Pungent Stench . In the same year the band recorded the album The Only Weapon of Choice - 13 Odes to Power, Decimation and Conquest and released the LP later that year on The Ajna Offensive and the CD on Animosity Records . In the same year, the split with Root appeared on The Ajna Offensive, while Tyrus: The Doom War of the Armored Angel appeared on Soulseller Records and Barbarian Onslaught on Decius Productions . In addition, the guitarists Saunders and Young left the band. Rick Withoos and Brent Hodgkins came to replace the cast. In the new line-up, the band performed again at Metal for the Brain. After the band had signed a contract with Agonia Records , The Only Weapon of Choice - 13 Odes to Power, Decimation and Conquest was released as a 2-CD version on the label again in 2004 . On the same label, The End of Forever was re-released on CD in 2004 and was called The Death of Forever . In May of that year guitarist Withoos was also replaced by Andrew Lilley. A planned three-week European tour had to be canceled the same year before the tour began. In addition, the EP Songs of Slaughter - Songs of Sacrifice was released on Hells Headbangers Records . Towards the end of the year Healey went to Europe to record a song with Pungent Stench for a future release. From then on the band should only consist of Healey and Suttis. In 2005, the band began work on the sound carrier Songs to Swing To , which was never published. In 2006 the band wrote their next album called Caustic Music for the Spiritually Bankrupt . In the same year the band rehearsed for the album. Drummer Suttil also died on December 27th of that year. In 2007 the band recorded the album with drummer Sean Cummiskey. In 2008 the live album Atomic Bloodlust - Live 2003 and the studio album Caustic Music for the Spiritually Bankrupt were released via Hells Headbangers Records . Drakkar Productions also released a re-release of Death - Mutation - Disease - Annihilation , which included six bonus songs. In the same year the band announced their breakup.

style

According to the Encyclopedia of Australian Heavy Metal, the band play raw black metal on The End of Forever , comparable to the music of Bathory and Venom . According to Scott Alisoglu from Blabbermouth.net , Caustic Music for the Spiritually Bankrupt is not a classic mix of Thrash and Black Metal like its predecessors. In the songs you can hear influences of Gothic Rock and Post-Punk and instruments from outside the genre such as a trumpet are used. Nat Shapiro from voicesfromthedarkside.de saw it similarly : The band played aggressive Thrash Metal comparable to Voivod on Angel's advice and a Gothic influence was audible. The album also has an esoteric sound.
