The Attenloher felt part of a flora-fauna habitat in the Upper Bavarian district of Bad Toelz-Wolfratshausen . Together with the Marienstein Moors, it is part of the Natura 2000 network of protected areas of the European Union .

designation

Felting is another name for rain bogs , which are also called ombrotrophic bogs or raised bogs . They are acidic and wet habitats with low mineral salts and flora and fauna adapted to these extreme conditions. This felt is named after the Attenloh watermill located on the northeastern edge of the protected area.

location

The protected area is 6.47 square kilometers and is located in the valley east of the village of Gaißach at the foot of the southeastern, 1279 meter high Sulzkopf . The Große Gaißach flows in the north of the area and the Kleine Gaißach runs through the southern part .

Hikers can do it on the nearly five kilometer long Filzen circular route.

To the east of the Filzen are the Marienstein Moors a few kilometers away.

Protection goals

The Attenloher Filzen consists of living raised bogs or degraded raised bogs that are still capable of being renatured, transitional bogs and swinging turf bogs.

The preservation and, if necessary, the restoration of the protected components should ensure a favorable state of preservation. The conservation goals have been defined in accordance with Section 7, Paragraph 1, Number 9 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatSchG).

The officially protected components include:

  • Terrain forms
    • Rivers of the planar to montane level with their vegetation
    • Moist tall herbaceous vegetation of the planar and montane to alpine level
    • Lean, lowland hay meadows
    • Peat bog ditches
    • Tufa springs
    • Lime-rich fens
