The Aubach is a right tributary of the Erla , which itself runs from a little before Wallsee-Sindelburg ( Lower Austria ) in an old Danube arm, which was cut off in the course of the construction of the Wallsee-Mitterkirchen power plant .

The Aubach is created by the confluence of the right, coming from the south, the Harbach and the left, smaller Rohrbach, flowing from the southwest, at the municipality triangle of Haag (south) / St.Valentin (west) / Strengberg (east). It first flows north, then at the edge of the Donauaue at the Strengberger place Mayerhofen along this sharp turn to east-southeast and approaches the Erla and behind it the Danube more and more. In the area of the municipality of Strengberg it flows into the Erla, which has just flowed into the oxbow lake.

The Austrian Way of St. James (section Persenbeug – Sankt Pantaleon) also runs a short distance along the Aubache and then crosses it.

In the Donauaue am Aubach there was also the village of Au , which was relocated after several flood disasters in 2002. Today there are only a few houses and the au chapel here.
