Strengberg is a market town with 2094 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Amstetten district in Lower Austria .
geography
Strengberg is located in the Mostviertel in Lower Austria between Linz and Amstetten south of the Danube . 16.97 percent of the area of the market town is forested.
Community structure
The municipality includes the following six localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

- Limbach (541) including Johannessiedlung, Kleinhaag, Kroisbach, Plappach, Prölling, Rohrmühle and Schickenhof
- Ottendorf (197) including Flachsberg, Koxegg, Masing, Musterharten, Steinbruckmühle, Thalling and Unterramsau
- Ramsau (471) including Bleibergsiedlung, Glanding, Grub, Henning, Loipersberg and Oberramsau
- Strengberg (511) including Achleiten, Buch, Gerstberg and Lampersberg
- Thürnbuch (372) including Linden, Mähring and Mayerhofen
The community consists of the cadastral communities Au, Limbach, Oberramsau, Ottendorf, Strengberg and Thürnbuch.

history
In ancient times the area was part of the Roman province of Noricum . An emergency excavation initiated in 1979 found the remains of a late antique Burgus .
Parts of today's municipality belonged to the Achleiten dominion of the Tegernsee monastery until 1803 . The place itself was affected by the Turkish siege in 1529, the peasant uprising in 1597, the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648), the Napoleonic Wars (1800–1809) and the two world wars.

The red coat of arms with a silver high cross on a green three-mountain that extends to the upper edge of the shield is accompanied by two green fir trees .
Population development
According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 2,073 inhabitants. In 1991 the market town had 2,031 inhabitants, in 1981 2,065 and in 1971 2,036 inhabitants.

economy
In 2001 there were 64 non-agricultural workplaces, agricultural and forestry holdings 184 according to the 1999 survey. The number of people in work at home was 951 according to the 2001 census. The 2001 employment rate was 46.88 percent. There were 116 unemployed people in the area on average in 2003.
fire Department
The fire service consists of the two volunteer fire brigades Strengberg and Thürnbuch / Au with a total of around 140 members. Both are combined in the Strengberg subsection.
Soccer
There is a football club in the community. The FCU Strengberg , founded in 1983, plays in the 2nd class in Ybbstal . The club chairman is Florian Wagner (2019-).
