Seitenstetten is a market town with 3440 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the district of Amstetten in Lower Austria .

Seitenstetten is located in the Mostviertel in Lower Austria. The area of the market town covers 30.48 square kilometers. 25.84 percent of the area is forested.

The districts of Seitenstetten are Blümelsberg, Heiderhäuser, Hochstraß, Neudorf, Pöllausiedlung, Seitenstetten Dorf, Seitenstetten Markt, Treffling and Weidersdorf as well as numerous individual locations.
In the north of the municipality is the Seitenstetten airfield .

history
In ancient times, the area was part of the Noricum province .
First mentioned in a document in 1109, the Benedictine monastery Seitenstetten was founded in 1112 by the noble Reginbert von Hagenau and Udalschalk von Stille und Heft . 1480 received the place by Emperor Friedrich III. granted the market right.
Population development
According to the results of the 2001 census , there were 3131 inhabitants. In 1991 there were 2981 people living in the market town, 2765 in 1981 and 2664 in 1971.

Sports
The soccer club USC Seitenstetten was founded in 1964 and currently plays in the 2nd regional league West . The club plays its home games in the iLife Arena in Seitenstetten. About the club UFC St. Peter / Au from the western neighboring community has always existed a rivalry pilgrimage in these games even with unterklassigen games around a thousand spectators to the local sports grounds. The best-known players from Seitenstetten are Manuel Engleder , Martin Fraisl and Reinhard Großalber . The team is currently being trained by Robert Langergraber , who replaced Gerhard Kammerhofer at the start of the season after six years.
Economy and Infrastructure
In 2001 there were 117 non-agricultural workplaces, agricultural and forestry operations according to the 1999 survey 130. According to the 2001 census, the number of people in employment at the place of residence was 1447. In 2001 the activity rate was 47.74 percent. There was an average of 72 unemployed people in the area in 2003.
The largest employer is the mechanical engineering company LiSEC Maschinenbau GmbH , which opened its production in the municipality in 1993. In 1998 the research and development department was built and in the 2000s the location was expanded by a further 12,000 m².
