Ertl is a municipality with 1260 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Amstetten district in Lower Austria .

geography

Ertl is located in the Mostviertel in Lower Austria. 25.55 percent of the area of ​​the municipality is forested.

Community structure

The municipality includes only one village in the cadastral municipality of the same name .

The districts are Ertl Dorf, Großau , Peilstein, Tiefenbach, Voitstraß-Siedlung as well as numerous individual layers.

history

In ancient times, the area was part of the Noricum province .

In the Middle Ages, the lords of Url, a branch of the Seitenstettner monastery family, sat in this area.

It was not until 1922 that the Ertl community was formed from parts of the communities of St. Michael, St. Peter / Au-Dorf, Waidhofen-Land and Kürnberg.

In 1930 Ertl became an independent parish.
