The community consists of the village Wolfsbach. history

In ancient times, the area was part of the Noricum province .

In 823, Ludwig the Pious confirmed in the document Confirmatio Ludovici Pii that Wolfeswanc was one of those pastors that his father Charlemagne had already given the Passau Church. It is fitting that the foundations of a previous building from the 9th century were found during the church interior renovation in 2011. In 1109 the canons' monastery was founded in Wolfsbach's parish, and in 1112 the Benedictine monastery in Seitenstetten . In 1142, Bishop Reginbert handed over the Wolfsbach parish to Seitenstetten Abbey. Today's late Gothic parish church was built in the 15th century, furnished twice in Baroque style and finally re-Gothicized in 1908. At the end of the 16th century a new parsonage was built, and a parish school has been documented since the 17th century.

In 1850 the three independent communities Bubendorf, Meilersdorf and Wolfsbach were established in the parish, which were merged in 1938 to form today's community. Wolfsbach has been a market town since 2003.

Population development

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1,809 inhabitants. In 1991 the market town had 1,731 inhabitants, 1,693 in 1981 and 1,728 in 1971.

Wolfsbach parish church

Catholic parish church Wolfsbach hl. Veit: The church is a late Gothic hall church with a western tower and largely neo-Gothic furnishings. In 2011 the interior of the church was thoroughly renovated and the sanctuary was liturgically reorganized.

In 2001 there were 66 non-agricultural workplaces; according to the 1999 survey, there were 150 agricultural and forestry holdings. According to the 2001 census, 824 people were employed at the place of residence. The employment rate in 2001 was 46.48 percent. On average in 2003 there were 36 unemployed people in the area.
