Hans Stroebitzer

Hans Ströbitzer (born April 2, 1930 in Strengberg ; † October 14, 2017 in St. Pölten ) was an Austrian journalist and publicist .

Life

Ströbitzer studied political science . From 1964 to 1995 he was editor-in-chief of Niederösterreichische Nachrichten . During this time he increased the circulation from 90,000 to 600,000 copies. He wrote commentaries for Radio Niederösterreich for 17 years . From 1970 to 1981 he was also editor-in-chief of the specialist journal Information and Opinion . Ströbitzer was among other things a board member of the Association of Catholic Publicists in Austria . The journalist Stefan Ströbitzer is his son.

In 1967 he received the state prize for journalistic achievements in the interests of national intellectual defense . In 2010 Ströbitzer was awarded the Cross of Honor for Science and Art, 1st Class. Governor Erwin Pröll praised Ströbitzer as a “leading figure for generations of journalists”. In 2011 he received the Lower Austrian Culture Prize in the adult education category.

Ströbitzer lived in St. Pölten . and was married to his wife Inge.
