State award for journalistic achievements in the interests of intellectual national defense

The State Prize for Journalistic Achievements in the Interest of Intellectual National Defense is an award given annually by the Austrian Ministry of Science , which is one of the State Awards of the Republic of Austria . The award was launched in 1965.

State Prize

The State Prize is awarded for multiple or one-time achievements on a larger scale in the field of intellectual national defense by Austrian professional journalists, permanent members of the press or Austrian editors for radio and television. The journalists must have their permanent residence in Austria. Only contributions that appeared in newspapers and magazines within a certain period of time or were broadcast on ORF are permitted for the application . Articles that have appeared in soldiers' newspapers, army magazines and similar organs are excluded.

The submitted work will be assessed by a three-person jury appointed by the ministry, who will make a proposal to the head of the department. The prize is endowed with 4,000 euros.
