Franz Stamprech

Franz Stamprech (born May 30, 1906 in Vienna , † May 5, 1983 in Eisenstadt ) was an Austrian journalist and writer .

Life

Stamprech was born the son of a locksmith. He first studied law at the University of Vienna and then German , history and newspaper studies . In 1954 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1929 until his military service in 1940 he was a columnist and editor for domestic policy for the Catholic daily Das Kleine Volksblatt in Vienna. He became a US prisoner of war , where he remained until August 1945. From 1945 to 1947 editor-in-chief of the ÖVP press service and from 1947 to 1955 deputy editor-in-chief of the Kleine Volksblatt. From 1955 to 1972 he was editor-in-chief of the Wiener Zeitung .

In 1955 he was a board member of the Austrian Association of Journalists and Writers Concordia and chairman of the Association of Parliamentary Editors of Austria.

Stamprech was married and had one child.
