Rainer Nowak
Rainer Nowak (born November 25, 1972 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian journalist . He has been editor-in-chief since 2012 and publisher of the daily newspaper Die Presse since 2014 .
Life
He comes from a family of journalists: his father Josef A. Nowak headed the Vienna office of the Tiroler Tageszeitung for many years and then became editor-in-chief of the Austria Press Agency ; his mother Krista Hauser worked as a cultural journalist for ORF .
After completing his Matura at the New Language High School Wasagasse in Vienna's 9th district ( Alsergrund ), Nowak studied history and political science at the University of Vienna from 1992 to 1997 (without a degree).
As early as 1994, he worked as a freelancer in the Viennese editorial team of Vorarlberger Nachrichten and then completed an internship at the Tyrolean daily newspaper in Innsbruck . In 1996 he finally joined the editorial staff of the press , where he initially worked in the domestic affairs department. Later Nowak u. a. Editor for the range NS - compensation charge and Head of Vienna. He has also published articles in the British daily newspaper The Independent and is a member of the editorial board of the Jewish culture magazine Nu .
In 2009 Nowak became editorial director of the press on Sunday . In October 2010 he took over the management of the domestic affairs department. In September 2012 he succeeded Michael Fleischhacker as editor-in-chief. Nowak has also been the publisher of the press since October 2014 .
