Norbert Mayer (journalist)
Norbert Mayer (born February 5, 1958 in Fürstenfeld , Styria ) is an Austrian journalist.
Mayer studied literature and languages in Graz , London and New York and taught English and German. He then worked as a journalist in Graz, Brussels , Berlin and Vienna , among others for »Der Standard«, »Berliner Zeitung« and »Kurier«. Since 2003 he has been the chief editor in the features section of the daily newspaper Die Presse .
He is married to the musicologist Anita Mayer-Hirzberger, with whom he has three children.
As part of the awarding of Journalists of the Year by the industry magazine Der Österreichische Journalist , he was awarded in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017 in the culture category.
In 2016 he received the Bank Austria Art Prize for Cultural Journalism.
