Horst Mäder

Horst Mäder (* 1939 in Vienna ) is an Austrian officer ( retired brigadier ), lawyer and publicist .

Life

After graduating from high school, Mäder did military service in the Austrian armed forces ; he graduated from the Theresian Military Academy (TherMilAk) in Wiener Neustadt. From 1962 to 1972 he served as an officer in the armored force. 1972/73 he was part of the UN force. From 1973 to 1975 he was used as a teaching officer at TherMilAk; As class commander, he took over the 36-strong “Andreas Hofer” class, which was retired in 1976 .

From 1975 to 1979 he studied law as a part-time and was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD. In 1981 he became editor-in-chief of the magazine for training, leadership and deployment in the Austrian Armed Forces troop service . Until 2002 he was head of the troop service department in the Federal Ministry for National Defense in Vienna.

From 1999 to 2003 he was 1st Vice President of the European Military Press Association . In 2012 he became a member of the Officers Society of Lower Austria . He is also a member of the Friends of the National Defense Academy .

He has been working as a freelancer since 2013. He writes u. a. Guest comments for the daily newspaper Kurier .

Positions

When reforming the armed forces, he advocates the program of the ZILK commission.
