Aubinger Archive
The Aubinger Archive is a non-profit association and district archive for Munich- Aubing and the surrounding area. It houses a collection of historical and contemporary documents.
history
The exhibition "From village to district - 50 years of Aubing in Munich " was the title of an exhibition that was shown in the premises of the Munich Adult Education Center in Aubing in April 1992 . At that time, the district committee of the 22nd district had initiated a photo competition due to the 50th anniversary of the forced incorporation of Aubing into the state capital of Munich, in order to collect images from the Aubing past.
The result of the competition was that many people from Aubing submitted many photos from Aubing's history . In addition, old text documents and maps could be brought to light, which also contributed to the success of the exhibition. The response to the exhibition and the accompanying program was surprisingly great. So this exhibition became the occasion to maintain and preserve local cultural assets and regional history on a permanent basis.
On July 28, 1993, citizens of Aubinger and Neuaubingen finally founded the "Aubinger Archive" association. At the same time the statutes , tasks and purpose of the association were fixed. Since then the Aubinger Archive has pursued the following goals and performed the following tasks:

- Promotion and maintenance of local cultural assets, whereby the history of Aubing and Neuaubing is particularly taken into account
- Collection and archiving of photographs and documents
- Publication of research results, documents and photographs in publications, exhibitions, lectures and guided tours

The archive now has a picture archive with around 5000 historical photos with pictures showing Aubing, Neuaubing, Freiham and the surrounding area:
- Club anniversaries, flag consecration of clubs, bell consecrations , church memorial days or family celebrations from Aubingen citizens
- Chronicle of the former owners of Schloss Freiham with extensive image material
- Newspaper archive: Aubing-Neuaubinger Zeitung from 1929
- Large collection of " death pictures "
- Historical photos : First and Second World War , soldier photos , aerial photos of Aubing and Neuaubing
- Chronicles and commemorative publications of many Aubingen associations as well as various publications
