Audrey Williamson
Audrey Doreen Swayne Williamson (-Mitchell) (born September 28, 1926 in Bournemouth , † April 29, 2010 in Rhos-on-Sea , North Wales ) was a British athlete who won an Olympic silver medal in 1948.
Williamson participated in the XV. 1948 Summer Olympics in London . After she had won her preliminary run in 25.4 seconds, she fought a close race with the Australian Shirley Strickland in the semifinals , both were placed first with 24.9 seconds. In the final, Fanny Blankers-Koen from the Netherlands won in 24.4 seconds ahead of Williamson in 25.1 seconds, the bronze medal went to Audrey Patterson from the USA in third ahead of Shirley Strickland.
