On life's rough track is a German silent film melodrama from 1918 directed by Georg Bluen with Fern Andra in the lead role.

action

The blind Fern and her sister Lotti are orphans. You were taken in by a family that specializes exclusively in crooked business. Both foster children had to take to the streets from an early age and work there as match sellers. The two sons of the criminal family are called Fritz and Rudolf and are currently planning a new foray. This time they are targeting Count Rahden's cash in hand.

Meanwhile, a great wish for Fern has come true. The eye specialist Dr. Hubert healed her from her blindness. But now the upright Fern, no wonder with her weird adoptive family, goes under the private detectives. She wants to put an end to her two stepbrothers and can catch the two gangsters in the act. For her help she receives a reward of 20,000 marks and for her heart her eye healer Dr. Hubert.

Production notes

On the rough course of life , announced as a "detective drama", was made in the final phase of the First World War in the Fern Andra film studio in Berlin's Chausseestrasse 42. The five-act film was 1515 meters long, was censored in October 1918 and received Youth ban. The first performance took place in November 1918 in the marble house.
