Resurrection Church (Oberkassel)
The Protestant Church of the Resurrection in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel , on the corner plot of Arnulfstraße / Quirinstraße, is an important architectural and historical testimony to Art Nouveau , which foreshadows the brick architecture of the Rhenish 1920s , and is a listed building . It was built between 1913 and 1914 based on a design by the Düsseldorf architects Rudolf Wilhelm Verheyen and Julius Stobbe and inaugurated on Ascension Day in 1914.
The church, rectory, parish hall and administration building are combined to form a structural ensemble made of exposed brick with natural stone structures under green-glazed tiled roofs - a novelty at the time. The church, a hall building with galleries , presents itself with a high baroque volute gable with Art Nouveau ornaments and a raised octagonal tower with a gallery for wind instruments. Traditionally, there is a blown tower on Christmas Eve at midnight .
European organ "Felix Mendelssohn"
In 2004 the company W. Sauer Orgelbau (Frankfurt / Oder) built the so-called European organ "Felix Mendelssohn" .
With the designation as a European organ , the variety of colors of the disposition with registers from different European regions or for different musical styles should be expressed (Spanish trumpets, Italian floating parts, registers in the French and German-Romantic style). A special feature are the modern registers saxophone 8 ′, blues fourth II ( 1 1 ⁄ 7 ′ & 16 ⁄ 19 ′) and guarneri third ( 1 13 ⁄ 19 ′), as well as the "Kawal flute 4 ′" (Balkans).
Furthermore, the name of the organ is reminiscent of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , who was active as the city's music director in Düsseldorf from 1833 to 1835 and who shaped musical life.
The instrument has 65 registers on three manuals and pedal , mechanical slide chests , mechanical and electrical tone and register actions . The organ is fully MIDI capable and thus enables the recording and playback of the game, as well as all other possibilities that result from the connection with a PC.
