The eye-spot tetra ( Aphyocharax paraguayensis ) (also sun tetra or tail- spot tetra ) is a freshwater ornamental fish from the family of the real tetras that is native to the waters of Paraguay and is striking because of its bright colors.
The fish, which can grow to around 4.5 cm in size, are also perfectly suitable for keeping in smaller aquariums , where they can also be socialized with other species. Since the eye spot tetra is a schooling fish , it should also be kept in captivity in groups of at least six animals. Some aquarists have reported that the species appears to feed on the fins and scales of other fish.
