Harold August "Augie" Johnston (born June 18, 1986 in Seattle ) is a former American basketball player and coach.

career

Johnston played at Atascadero High School in his home state of California and between 2004 and 2008 for the team at California State University, Monterey Bay in the second division of the NCAA . After the end of the 2007/08 season, his fourth and last at college level, Johnston was with 848 points (in 79 games) in sixth place on the team's all-time basket hunter list and in the category "three-point throws scored" (137) the first place.

In the 2008-09 season he was an assistant coach on the basketball staff of the college team of Cal State Monterrey Bay. After graduating in economics in 2009, he dared to make the leap to professional basketball and from December 2009 he played with the Velbert Baskets in the second regional league in Germany. In the 2010/11 season he scored an average of 29.8 points per game for SpVgg Rattelsdorf, leading the first Regionalliga Süd-Ost.

From 2011 to 2013 Johnston played for SC Rist Wedel in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB and was team captain there. Especially with his performances in the 2012/13 season, when he led Wedel into the ProB playoffs and scored the team's best with 19.3 points per match, he drew the attention of ProA clubs. In the 2013/14 season he was then  under contract with the Cuxhaven BasCats in the ProA.

For the 2014/15 season, Johnston moved to Luxembourg and played for BBC Bascharage. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he was under contract with BBC Sparta Bertrange (also Luxembourg), but in November 2015, after a few games, he split up.

Johnston ran a website on which he offered basketball training content including video training. He also organized basketball camps for young people, and in the summer of 2018 he took on the coaching position of the basketball team at his former school, Atascadero High School, after he had previously supervised a team with younger students at the same educational institution. He also worked as a computer science teacher at the school . He started a video service company.
