Augur AV-1R

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The hot-air airship type AV-1R from the Russian company RosAeroSystems , a subsidiary of Augur Luftfahrtsysteme , was developed in cooperation with the Czech company Kubíček .

Like all hot-air airships, its main area of responsibility is aerial advertising . For this purpose, there are anchoring points on both sides of the cover for advertising posters up to 17.5 × 5 m in size, which can also be illuminated from the inside during night flights. Leaflets can also be dropped or announcements made over a public address system. In addition, the ship can be used for documentation and research from the air, whereby it is also able to go very deep. The gondola offers space for 2 people.

A ground crew of 3 to 6 people is required for take-off and landing. They can be done vertically or with a run-up. The ship can be operated at wind speeds of up to 7.5 m / s (27 km / h). The transport to the place of use takes place packed in a trailer . The duration of a single trip is around 1.5 to 2 hours.

Shell

The envelope contains the warm air that gives the airship its buoyancy , similar to a hot air balloon . It has a so-called H3 shape and an aspect ratio of 2.76. Its theoretical length is 34.5 m, the diameter in the middle part 12.5 m. Its volume is 2,782 cubic meters.

The cover is made of coated polyester fabric - and tapes. Their expected lifespan is around 600 flight hours. During this time there is a slight enlargement of the envelope due to the stretching of the tissue. The shape of the shell is maintained by a constant overpressure inside. To do this, an air scoop under the hull directs part of the air flow from the propeller directly into the hull and into the lower stabilizer.

The tail unit consists of a height stabilizer and rudder , which also get their shape from an overpressure inside. The air for the altitude stabilizers comes directly from the hull, while the rudders are inflated via a branch from the propeller flow.

The cross section of the shell is in three parts. Two parallel straps, from which the gondola is suspended with several ropes, run over 2/3 of the length of the shell. These ropes run through the bottom of the shell to four suspension points on the nacelle. It is also attached to the reinforced base of the case. This reinforcement also serves to protect the envelope against the burner flame.

A fabric non- return valve is available on the left-hand side for filling with cold air during assembly . During dismantling, the warm air can escape through two rip panels above the horizontal stabilization surfaces. The valves, through which excess warm air can escape during operation, are located in the front part of the cover.

In order to be able to move the ship on the ground, the front part of the hull is reinforced and provided with a metal ring to which the landing ropes are attached.

The temperature inside the envelope is around: 60-100 ° C in flight. It can reach a maximum of around 130 ° C.

gondola

The nacelle houses the Rotax 503 UL-2V 37 kW (50 HP) motor and a four-bladed propeller in a ring-shaped casing, the fuel tank, the burner, its gas bottles, a battery, the flight instruments and the control and steering devices.

The two seats are arranged next to each other so that both people can reach all controls. In the front area there is a hatch transparent at the top to install the burner inside the closed envelope and to monitor it during operation.

The two Kubicek H3 burner blocks with electromagnetic ignition are supplied with fresh oxygen by two electric fans, which are also located at the top of the nacelle. In the middle part behind the pilot there is space for two 40l liquid gas bottles with normal propane gas, but 60 or 80l bottles can also be installed.

The rudders are operated by a cable and deform the inflated rudder structure.

The gondola is equipped with a three-wheel chassis for maneuverability on the ground.
