In 1874 August Büttner founded the Rheinische Röhrendampfkesselfabrik August Büttner & Co. , which began with the manufacture of steam boilers. In 1886 August Büttner and Dr. Carl Meyer founded Büttner & Meyer, a machine factory for drying systems . When the two companies merged, the Rheinische Dampfkessel- und Maschinenfabrik Büttner & Co. In 1968 the company acquired shares in the machine factory Friedrich Haas GmbH & Co. KG in Remscheid-Lennep . As a result, the areas of vacuum technology as well as textile drying and finishing were incorporated. By merging with the shields AG (Bad Hersfeld) which was created with effect from 8 January 1970 Büttner shields-Haas AG , which as from 1977 Babcock-BSH changed its name .

Since the end of the 1990s, the Büttner Gesellschaft für Trocknungs- und Umwelttechnik mbH has been offering modifications and later dryers and complete systems for sugar beet pulp pelleting .
