August Canzi
August Canzi (born February 22, 1808 in Baden near Vienna as Martin Kanz , † April 13, 1866 in Budapest ) was an Austrian genre and portrait painter as well as a lithographer and photographer .
Probably from 1829 onwards, Canzi began studying at the Royal Art School in Stuttgart . From 1833 to 1840 he stayed in Paris, where he became a student of Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres by 1834 at the latest . Between 1833 and 1840 he took part in the Paris Salon . From 1840 Canzi lived in Vienna. From 1843 on, he regularly took part in the exhibitions at the Kunstverein in Pest (Művészeti Egyesület), where he moved around 1846. In 1862 he opened a photo studio there together with Jόzef Heller .
