August Dieskau

Johann Wilhelm August Dieskau (born April 22, 1805 in Dieskau ; † July 8, 1889 in Althaldensleben ) was a German art gardener.

Life

Dieskau was Magdalene Hupe's illegitimate child . His grandfather was a gardener . The child's guardian was the botanist and professor at the University of Halle , Kurt Sprengel . At the instigation of his guardian, he was trained as an art gardener in the Halle Botanical Garden . After completing his training, Sprengel arranged for Dieskau to work with Johann Gottlob Nathusius in Althaldensleben. Dieskau grew Nathusius' pigeon apple from seeds in the Althaldensleben art and commercial gardening company belonging to the Nathusius company . As an orcharder, he was one of the main contributors to the landscape park between Hundisburg and Haldensleben, which Nathusius had designed since 1821 . It is said of him that he planted the large plane tree in the park's swan pond.

In 1843 Dieskau married for the second time. The son Otto Dieskau , later a teacher and local researcher, emerged from this marriage with Caroline Tripler .
