Otto Dieskau (born June 26, 1844 in Althaldensleben ; † August 8, 1933 there) was the school principal and head of the registry office in Althaldensleben. He held numerous honorary positions and emerged primarily as a local researcher who published his research results in the brochure series "From Althaldensleben's Past".

Life

Dieskau was the son of the Althaldensleber art gardener August Dieskau and his second wife, Caroline Tripler. The couple had married in 1843; Otto Dieskau was the oldest child from this connection.

After he had passed the elementary teaching qualification exam at the seminar for teachers in Halberstadt in 1865 , he returned to the Protestant elementary school in Althaldensleben as a school authority candidate and teacher. He later became the principal of this school, where he taught until 1911. In 1872 he was also appointed branch savings bank loaner for Althaldensleben and in 1886 head of the registry office in Althaldensleben. He held the latter office until 1928.

In 1866 Dieskau founded the Althaldensleber men's choir "Gemüthlichkeit", as its conductor he acted. From 1871 to 1911 he was the organist and head of the Kurrende of the evangelical community Althaldensleben. For several decades Dieskau belonged to the parish council and the district synod . In the “Aller-Verein” he gave historical lectures and expanded the collections. The focus of his external and post-professional activities was on researching the history of Althaldensleben. He published regularly in the regional press. In a series of multi-edition brochures published from 1922 to 1930, 48 treatises on historical topics were published. The ten volumes in this series were published by Wilhelm Simmerlein under the title “From Althaldensleben's Past” and produced in the Neuhaldensleber Wochenblatt's printing house.
