The Arena Toruń (also Hala Sportowo-Widowiskowa w Toruniu ; German sports and entertainment hall in Toruń ) is a multi-purpose hall in the Chełmińskie Przedmieście district of the Polish city of Toruń , Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship , in northern central Poland. The women's basketball team Katarzynki Toruń , the women's volleyball team Budowlani Toruń and the men's basketball team Twarde Pierniki Toruń use the Toruń arena for their games. The municipal football stadium Stadion Miejski im is located nearby . Grzegorza Duneckiego , in which the Elana Toruń club plays, and the Lodowisko Tor-Tor ice rink in. Józefa Stogowskiego .
history
The hall was opened on August 10, 2014 after around three years of construction. The Toruń arena is equipped for a wide variety of sports such as athletics , handball , volleyball , basketball , table tennis , tennis , badminton , kickboxing , boxing , fencing , rhythmic gymnastics and acrobatics as well as indoor hockey . Like the climbing wall , they meet the requirements for international competitions. There are 5192 fixed seats installed, which can be expanded by 510 seats. Depending on the event, there is space for up to 9250 visitors. The athletics facility offers six lanes on the 200 m track. There are eight lanes over the sprint distance of 60 m. There are also VIP - boxes and a gym .
The Copernicus Cup , an indoor athletics meeting that is part of the IAAF World Indoor Tour, has been held every February since 2015 . On April 27, 2018, the European Athletics Association (EAA) in Berlin awarded the Polish city the 36th European Indoor Athletics Championships in 2021. The competitor was the Dutch Apeldoorn , which failed with its application for the EM 2019 .
In addition to sport, u. a. also organizes exhibitions , fairs and concerts in the arena.
