from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ulrich Hauer (* 1953 in Hundisburg ) is a German excavation technician . From 1997 to 2017 he was the director of the Museum Haldensleben and a local politician in the 1990s. Hauer is the author of numerous books and treatises on the history of the Haldensleben region .

family

Hauer was born in Hundisburg. His grandfather worked as a brick maker in the Hundisburger brick factory . His mother was a painter at the last ceramics factory in Althaldensleben, known as the “shard miller” .

Life

Ulrich Hauer attended school in Hundisburg. This was followed by an apprenticeship as an electrician, during which he was a student at the vocational school in the former Althaldensleber monastery . From June 9, 1975, he was employed as a company electrician at what was then the district hospital in Haldensleben. During a company outing to the Haldensleber Museum, he noticed the request for a technical assistant posted there and applied to the then museum director, Sieglinde Bandoly . From August 1, 1977 to August 31, 1990, he worked at the museum in this capacity.

This was followed by a technical college distance course as a restorer for archaeological excavations , which he completed with a thesis on the castle wall named after Johanne Nathusius "Hannchens Ruh" in the Althaldensleber Park.

From 1977 to 1979 he attended the special school for directors of popular artistic creation in Magdeburg . This was followed (1979 to 1983) by distance learning from technical schools as a restorer for archaeological excavations. His growing interest in the preservation of monuments led to a position in the lower monument protection authority of the district in 1990 .

Museum Haldensleben

On January 1, 1997, Ulrich Hauer took over the management of the Haldensleber Museum from Sieglinde Bandoly, who had retired due to old age. He became the fifth museum director since the museum was founded in 1910. He held this position until he retired in March 2017. His successor was Judith Vater, who had already worked under him in the museum.

Hauer's museum work was shaped by the depiction of the Biedermeier period in Haldensleben, above all by depicting the legacy of the Brothers Grimm and the lives of important Haldensleber residents: the entrepreneur Johann Gottlob Nathusius , the lithographer and publisher Carl August Eyraud , the porcelain painter Wilhelm Grünewald and the Porcelain manufacturer Jakob Uffrecht . During his time, the museum was also expanded or relocated. The scientific collection and exhibition were moved to the Haus des Waldes in Hundisburger Schloss . The previous “farmhouse parlors” have been dissolved and replaced by furnishing and designing two adjoining residential houses depicting various trades from the 19th century. On Hauer's initiative, the school museum in Hundisburg was founded in 1988 , which is still a branch of the Haldensleber Museum today. The “House of Other Neighbors” that emerged from the former synagogue of Haldensleben was also incorporated into the museum structure. After the renovation of the building under the direction of Hauer in 2005/2006, the building was opened on April 17, 2007.

Finally, he was responsible for the annual journal of the museums of the district of Börde (formerly: the annual journal of the district museum Haldensleben and: the annual journal of the museums of the Ohrekreis ).

Ohrekreis Museum Association

After the Wolmirstedter museum director resigned Schierhorn early 1999 from office on February 1, 1999, the merger of the museums Haldensleben and Wolmirstedt for Museumsverbund Ohrekreis under the direction of Ulrich Hauer. He developed the concept for the restructuring of the exhibitions in both museums, including the placement plan. With the district reform that came into force on July 1, 2007, which led to the formation of the Börde district , the Ohrekreis museum association was dissolved again - the museums continued to operate independently. The profiling of the individual houses undertaken under Hauer was adopted and was the basis for the design of the museum landscape in the Bördekreis.

Hundisburg Castle

Ulrich Hauer played a key role in the reconstruction of Hundisburg Castle, which was destroyed in 1945. As early as 1990 he was in charge of founding the Hundisburg Castle Working Group , which designed a long-term development concept for the castle, the associated baroque garden and the adjacent Althaldensleben-Hundisburg landscape park . The Hundisburg Castle Association emerged from this working group in 1992 and the KULTUR-Landschaft Haldensleben-Hundisburg association in 1995 , which today is responsible for the activities in the palace and landscape park ensemble. Among other things, Hauer participated in the establishment of the annual music festival SummerMusikAkademie Schloss Hundisburg , which first took place in 1993 at Schloss Hundisburg. He headed the association until August 5th, 2013. In recognition of his many years of service, he was awarded honorary membership of the association on November 24th, 2013.

Historic Hundisburg brickworks

Hauer was also involved in the development of the historic Hundisburg brickworks into a producing monument as co-initiator, co-founder and chairman (1991–1998) of the support association for the Hundisburg brickworks technical monument . Under his leadership, the planning and implementation of the subsequent use and restructuring to today's "Technical Monument Ziegelei Hundisburg" took place. In 1990 the district took over the brickworks.

Local politics

After the fall of the inner-German border in 1989, Hauer was one of the founders of the Green Party in the Haldensleben district. He was elected deputy mayor of Hundisburg (1990-1995). Until the mid-1990s he was a member of the district council.

Appreciation

In addition to being an honorary member of the KULTUR-Landschaft Haldensleben-Hundisburg association , Hauer was awarded the Roland sword by the city of Haldensleben in 2004. On the occasion of his retirement from museum service, he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon on September 27, 2016 . It was awarded by Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff and District Administrator Hans Walker . In his laudation , Haseloff emphasized that Hauer had enriched the culture of his homeland and saved historical evidence from decay; The services to the cultural landscape of the Bördekreis, the rescue of the baroque palace and park as well as the historic brickworks in Hundisburg were addressed.

“I would like to thank you most sincerely for this comprehensive commitment to the common good and the cultural heritage of Saxony-Anhalt. In my opinion, it is the duty of local authorities and every public policy to enable this commitment and to support it with vigor. The community needs people like you. "
