Hans Walker

Hans Walker (* 17th April 1953 in Oschersleben ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was from 2011 to 2018 District Administrator of the district Borde .

Life

Walker attended the Polytechnische Oberschule and then completed an apprenticeship as a lathe operator in the VEB pump factory oddesse in Oschersleben. From 1971 to 1973 he did basic military service in the National People's Army . He studied technology of general mechanical engineering at the engineering school for mechanical engineering in Magdeburg and graduated in 1976 as a graduate engineer (FH). Walker now worked as an engineer and later as a department manager in the oddesse pump factory.

In 1981 he moved to state administration. There he was head of the energy and transport department in the Oschersleben district before reunification . In 1990 he became a full-time senior district director for day-to-day administration in the district of Oschersleben. In addition to this activity, Walker completed part-time training for the higher administrative service in Saxony-Anhalt. From 1991 until the district reform on July 1, 1994, he was the full-time district administrator of the district of Oschersleben. After the Wanzleben and Oschersleben districts merged to form the Bördekreis , he was Head of Construction and Investments at the Caritas Support Company of the Magdeburg Diocese until 2003 and then until 2007 as managing director of a subsidiary of the Caritas Support Company Magdeburg. From 2007 to 2011 he was managing director of Bewos Wohnungsbau- und Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH Oschersleben.

Walker, who has been a member of the CDU since 1971, was a member of the Oschersleben City Council from 1994 to 2007. He was also a member of the Bördekreis district council from 2004 to 2007 . On August 7, 2011, Walker was elected as the new district administrator of the Börde district in a run-off election , which had become necessary due to the change of the previous district administrator Thomas Webel to a ministerial office, and sat 58.8% against his opponent from the SPD , Wolfgang Zahn, by. Walker took office on September 7, 2011.

In October 2017, Walker lost to his party colleague Martin Stichnoth in the nomination for the CDU candidate for the upcoming district election in the Börde district . He had already applied for the nomination as a CDU candidate in 2011, but was still inferior to Walker at the time. After Stichnoth won the district election in a runoff election on April 8, Walker resigned from office as district administrator on September 6.

Walker is married and has two children.
