Life

Bandoly was born the daughter of an insurance chief inspector and an administrative clerk. In 1942 she started school in Breslau. When the Soviet troops advanced to Silesia , her mother fled with her to Weixdorf near Dresden. Here they saw the end of the war. Then the family moved to the Magdeburg Börde . From 1950 Bandoly attended the Haldensleben high school; In 1954 she completed her school years with a high school diploma.

She started a temporary job at the Haldensleber Kreissparkasse and completed a course in shorthand and typewriting at the district adult education center . In 1955 she got a job as a secretary in the district museum in Haldensleben. As a result, she completed several internships at the State Museum for Prehistory in Halle in the field of ceramic and metal restoration. In 1957 she took up distance learning at the technical college for local museums in Weißenfels ; In 1961 she graduated as a museologist . Her thesis was: "The ceramic industry of Haldensleben in the 19th and 20th centuries in its economic and social significance for the city". She has now received a position as a museum assistant in Haldensleben. From 1966 to 1970 Bandoly completed a distance learning course at the Humboldt University in Berlin , specializing in ethnography. In 1969 she was awarded the Johann Gottlieb Fichte Prize for her studies on the development of the way of living and living culture in the villages of the GDR since 1945 .

After the resignation of the museum director Bruno Weber , Bandoly acted as acting director of the museum from April 1, 1976. Despite her qualifications and Weber's recommendation to name her as his successor, she was initially not officially appointed director due to her refusal to become a party member. She only got the job from the beginning of 1980. During her time as museum director, Sieglinde Bandoly made the presentation of the part of the Brothers Grimm estate, which has been in the museum since 1963 and 1974 , one of her main tasks. Well-known representatives from universities, scientific libraries and literary museums took part in a Grimm Colloquium that she organized in Haldensleben in 1984. Another focus of her work was her research on regional history, the results of which can often be found in articles in the museum's annual journal, which she has been responsible for since 1960. During her term of office, she also bought the buildings at Lange Strasse 2 , 4 and 17 , which served to expand the museum. She ran the Haldensleber Museum until 1996.

Bandoly lives in Haldensleben. Even after her retirement, she regularly works on small research projects / exhibitions and publishes in the museum's series of publications. She is also on the board of the Aller-Ohre-Verein , founded in 2000 , which, in addition to its function as a history association for Haldensleben and the surrounding area, also acts as a support association for the museum.
