August Feyel (born June 21, 1881 in Überlingen , † March 21, 1963 in Freiburg-Ebnet ) was a German painter .

Feyel became known for his realistic, unadorned depictions of mostly deserted landscapes. His motifs often came from the Black Forest and the Lake Constance area.

He attended the art academy in Karlsruhe , but broke off his studies because of the early death of his parents. In Meersburg he completed training in the teachers' seminar. From 1922 Feyel lived in the community of Ebnet (today part of Freiburg im Breisgau ). In his main occupation he worked there as a school principal until 1949. Feyel was married to Anna Köhler (1879–1959) and had three children. He was buried in the cemetery next to the parish church of St. Hilary .

The Ebnet community made him an honorary citizen in 1949 . The primary school in the district is named after him. In 1984 his works were shown in a large retrospective at Schloss Ebnet.
