August Grunau

August Grunau (born July 12, 1881 in Klingerswalde / Heilsberg district , † June 21, 1931 in Opole ) was a German trade unionist and politician of the German Center Party .

life and work

After elementary school, Grunau was an agricultural worker in 1895/96, then a factory worker in Westphalia and Hanover until 1913 . From 1907 he was active in the Central Association of Christian Factory and Transport Workers in Germany and was honorary chairman of the Hanover branch until 1913. In 1913 he became union secretary there and later moved to Nuremberg in this position . Since 1919 Grunau was the district manager of his union for the provinces of Poznan and Silesia , based in Wroclaw . The union secretary was a member of the Weimar National Assembly for the Center Party from 1919 to 1920 , where he was elected in constituency 9 (Breslau).
