August Hofer (painter)
August Hofer (born March 1, 1899 in Achthal , † August 25, 1981 in Zusmarshausen ) was a German painter.
August Hofer's father was a barrel painter and gilder at the Achthaler Carolinenhütte . He did an apprenticeship with him and learned the techniques of gilding , painting and watercolor painting as well as etching . In 1922 he settled in Augsburg as a freelance artist.
His estate includes around 300 paintings, 800 watercolors and drawings and 200 woodcuts .
