August Krakow
August Krakau (born September 12, 1894 in Pirmasens , † January 7, 1975 in Amberg ) was a German officer , most recently lieutenant general in World War II . On June 21, 1941, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross as a colonel and commander of the 85 Mountain Infantry Regiment . Cracow was in command of the 7th Mountain Division from 1942 until its surrender in 1945, with a brief interruption .
