August Martin Hoffmann (born April 11, 1924 in Herbolzheim , Württemberg ; † July 24, 1985 in Schwerin ) was a German draftsman and sculptor .

Life

August Martin Hoffmann trained as a toolmaker and steel engraver after finishing school . This was followed by an apprenticeship as a stone and wood sculptor. He then studied with Ewald Mataré at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . Finally, he completed a further course of study at the Dresden University of Fine Arts with Walter Arnold . After working as a freelancer in Dresden, he moved to Schwerin and worked as an artist there until his death.
