August Mirbach (born January 5, 1808 in Königswinter , † March 15, 1891 ibid) was a German politician and mayor of Königswinter from 1841 to 1890.

Life

Mirbach was the youngest child of Johann Urban Mirbach and Anna Maria, geb. Dragon. He was married to Sybilla Bechern. The daughters Maria (1847–1937) and Margarethe (1852–1898) ran the secondary girls' school in Königswinter from 1878 to 1880.

On March 6, 1841 Mirbach was appointed mayor of Königswinter. He conducted his official business in the house built by him at Hauptstrasse 473 (later the hotel and restaurant "Im Alten Rathaus"). At the age of 82 and after almost 49 years in office, Mirbach resigned from the office of mayor in February 1890 - one year before his death.
