August Runggaldier-Furdenan also Gustl Runggaldier da Furdenan (* 1880 in Ortisei in Val Gardena ; † 1940 there ) was a Tyrolean sculptor and headmaster .

biography

His masters were the father August (1853-1917) and the uncle Ferdinand Demetz-Furdenan . In 1907 he opened his first workshop in Ortisei. In contrast to most of the works of the Val Gardena sculptors, his works, many small sculptures, were not sacred but profane.

In 1920 Runggaldier founded the exhibition association ( Circolo degli Artisti ) with Jakob Mussner, Jakob Crepaz and Vinzenz Moroder . Runggaldier was the first president of this association.

From 1922 to 1933 he was director of the art school in Pinerolo in Piedmont.

His workshop students were his son Franz Runggaldier, who took over his workshop, and Sepl Mahlknecht-Rainèl (1864–1944) from Val Gardena.
